Cindy Burt (310) 794-5329 burt@facnet.ucla.edu University of California Los Angeles Ergonomics Program Manager Cindy Burt, MS, OTR/L, CPE, is the manager of the UCLA Injury Prevention Division within the UCLA Environment, Health and Safety Department. She and her staff of ergonomists and safety specialists provide safety and ergonomics training and intervention services for the 25,000+ employees who work on the University campus and affiliated locations. Prior to this position, Cindy managed the UCLA Medical Center Sports/Hand/Work Injury Program. Active both academically and professionally, she has presented multiple training programs and seminars on laboratory ergonomics. She is an adjunct faculty member teaching ergonomics at the University of Southern California. |

Craig Maxwell (510) 486-7567 cmaxwell@lbl.gov Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory Radiological Control Technician Craig Maxwell is currently a Principal Radiological Control Technician at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, operated by the University of California. Prior to his current position, Craig worked as a Senior Radiation Safety Technician at the University of California’s Berkeley campus, where he became familiar with the unique challenges facing radiation safety programs in university research environments. Craig’s radiation safety experience includes working at the NASA Ames Research Center and time spent working in nuclear pharmacies incorporating cyclotrons used for the production of bio-medical radioisotopes. |

Dale Saunders (949) 824-4077 dale.saunders@uci.edu University of California Irvine Campus Fire Marshal Dale Saunders has served as Campus Fire Marshal for UC Irvine for the past 11 years. Receiving his BS in Architecture from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Dale worked for 5 years for the California Division of State Architecture and 2 years for the State Fire Marshal office before transitioning to the UC. During his tenure, he has overseen plan review and construction inspection for $1 billion of new construction of over 250 buildings on campus. Currently, Dale manages the compliance efforts for Title 19, the maintenance of fire safety systems, and Title 24, plan review for new construction. In his spare time, Dales enjoys sailing and is serving as Treasurer for the UCI Sailing Club. |

Ed Baylosis, CIH, CSP (510) 987-0170 ed.baylosis@ucop.edu University of California Office of the President Director of Environment, Health, and Safety Ed Baylosis is the Director of Environment, Health, and Safety at the University of California. He previously served at the Lawrence Livermore and Los Alamos National Laboratories where he provided health and safety support to research programs, manufacturing operations, and facility maintenance. Prior to attending graduate school and working at the national laboratories, Ed gained a wide background of EH&S experiences in areas including environmental compliance, toxicology research, and radiochemistry analysis. He is certified as an industrial hygienist and safety professional. |

The Department of Risk Services at the Office of the President’s mission is to enable the University faculty, staff and students to identify and manage risks associated with their activities, reducing the chances of loss, creating greater financial stability, and protecting our resources. Grace joined the University in December of 2004 after thirteen years as a Vice President and Officer in audit, insurance, safety and human resources capacities for the equipment and construction industry. Grace graduated with distinction from the University of Redlands with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration and holds a variety of designations in the areas of claims, safety, audit and human resources. Major initiatives for the Risk Services department include reducing the cost of risk, implementing system and local safety programs, improving claims management systems, developing risk financing strategies, and implementing Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), and Emergency Management and Business Continuity Planning throughout the University. |

Greg Haet (510) 642-4848 gjhaet@berkeley.edu University of California Berkeley Associate Director, Environmental Protection Greg Haet has been associate director of EH&S at the University of California, Berkeley, for the past six years. He is chair of the University of California’s systemwide environmental manager’s group, chair of the campus bicycle committee, and co-chair of the campus health and construction workgroup. Prior to coming to UC, Greg worked for more then 10 years in consulting, chemical manufacturing, and technical sales. |

He is a certified trainer for Smith-System Advanced Driver Training, NSC Forklift Operator Safety, Aerial Work Platform/Bucket Truck Operator Safety, and is an IMSA certified Work Zone Safety Specialist . In addition, he is a certified in Backhoe, Loader & Dump Truck operational safety. John has been selected as a faculty member for the National Ergonomics Conference and Expo for the past two years. Prior to working for UCSB, John gained extensive general safety knowledge and experience working as a safety director and/or consultant in the construction, agricultural, manufacturing, and distribution industries. |

Wasler has been the Training and Outreach Coordinator for UCLA's EH&S department since June 2008. Her background includes over 15 years of adult learning programming experience, including three years at the Los Angeles Times as a leadership development specialist. Before moving to California in 2005, Karin was the training coordinator for the Department of Environmental Health and Safety at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa, where she also earned her M.A. in Education. |

Linda Bogue (949) 824-7147 lbogue@uci.edu University of California Irvine Emergency Management Coordinator Linda Bogue is the Emergency Management Coordinator for UC Irvine. She coordinates emergency management, emergency response and disaster preparedness activities for the main campus. Prior to coming to UCI, Linda worked for over 20 years in the oil industry at a number of assignments ranging from field level operations to corporate staff. Her last few years focused on OSHA compliance, emergency response, and employee training and development. Brief forays into management consulting and health care regulatory compliance have also broadened Linda’s professional portfolio. Linda received her BA degree in Speech Communication from San Diego State University and earned an MA in Organizational Leadership from Chapman University. She is a member of the Orange County Emergency Managers Organization. |

Russell Vernon, Ph.D. (951) 827-5119 russell.vernon@ucr.edu Laboratory / Research Manager Dr. Russell Vernon is the Laboratory / Research Manager at the University of California Riverside where he oversees the Biosafety, Environmental Health, Field/Lab/Agricultural Safety, Hazardous Materials, Radiation, and Waste Management programs. He has a Ph.D. in Chemistry, and is a Certified Chemical Hygiene Officer. Russell has over 16 years of experience in Academic Laboratory & Research Safety. Prior to coming to UCR he held a postgraduate research position at Scripps Institution of Oceanography, a Lecturer at UCSD, Chemistry & Bioschemistry department where he also managed the teaching laboratory safety program. |
