To help reduce your risk of contracting the H1N1 flu here are a few preventative measures:
Stay informed. This website will be updated regularly as information becomes available.
Follow public health advice regarding school closures, avoiding crowds, and other social distancing measures.
Find healthy ways to deal with stress and anxiety through the Counseling Center or the Wellness program.
Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze. Use an an alcohol-based hand sanitizer if soap and water are unavailable.
Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread this way.
Try to avoid close contact with sick people.
Stay home if you are sick until you have been symptom-free for 24 hours, whichever is longer. This is to keep from infecting others and spreading the virus further.
Get the seasonal flu vaccination and (when available) the H1N1 flu vaccination
Take everyday steps to protect your health
Sanitize and clean high-touch surfaces
