Did You Know

What is actually involved when you send out your meter for calibration at the Electronics Shop?

·       A battery check is performed to ensure that the batteries are in good condition. This includes checking the appearance of the battery as well as to ensure that the batteries are properly charged.

·       An audio, alarm set, reset, window operation, and high voltage check is also performed.

·       An electronic linearity check involved checking and adjusting the high volatage output, adjusting the zero setting and then adjusting each of the scales to be accurate across the scale, usually at 20% and 80%.  If the meter has been dropped, the meter movement must be disassembled and the hairsprings adjusted

·       The reference source on the meter is checked and the reference count is recorded.

·       The probe is checked against two sources Cl-36, and C-14. Both these readings are calculated to determine the output efficiency, and are noted on the calibration certificate. An efficiency check is done for each probe.

·       A calibration certificate is generated for the user’s records.

·       Also any circuit board problems can be repaired in- house, including surface mount components.
