Glove Selection Chart (hazards)

Use this chart as an overview of commonly used gloves and and the types of hazards they can guard against.

Review "Selecting Personal Protective Equipment" to help determine glove use and selection.

Protect against

Plastic Disposable
Food contamination, Mild irritants
Fabric or Cotton
Slippery objects, Mild heat or cold insulation
Leather
Sparks, scraping against rough surfaces, or electricity (when used in combination with insulated liners)
Metal Mesh
Cuts, Punctures, Scrapes, Scratches, Sharp tools or Instruments
Aluminized
Heat (intense), Molten metals
Chemical-Resistant

Latex (natural rubber), Nitrile, Neoprene, Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC), Butyl, etc.

Flammables, Corrosives, Reactives, and Toxic substances. Refer to the Glove Selection Chart for chemicals.
