Course Description
Forklift Operator
Principles of safe operation of forklifts required per 29 CFR 1910.178 and 8CCR 3668. This course is required to operate a forklift vehicle on campus. Topics include: operation, batteries, fulcrum point, load weight, data plates, repairs, performance evaluations, dismounting, fire extinguishers, service valve positions, and vision restrictions. Dates and Times
Classes can be held any date, with one week advanced notice to Environmental Health and Safety. Available times are:
9:00 am – 11:00 am
11:00 am – 1:00 pm
1:00 pm – 3:00 pm
3:00 pm – 5:00 pm
Class Sizes
No more than 15 people are allowed for each class. The first hour will be classroom, and the second hour will be hands-on practice of driving a forklift. You are encouraged to schedule your people to attend over multiple dates/times.
Costs
Please submit an FAU number for each person, to cover the following instructor costs:
- $40 if you need sit down forklift training
- $45 if you need stand up forklift training
- $60 if you need sit down AND standup forklift training (both)
Certification
Participants who complete the training will receive a A) Photo ID card, and B) Powered Industrial Truck Operator certificate. Please ensure that copies of each are submitted to the Training Manager by email or fax (951) 827-5122 for official record keeping purposes. Certification is required every 3 years.
