Prescription Safety Eyewear

EH&S provides safety eyewear to fit over prescription glasses, providing protection against impact and splash hazards without compromising vision. In some cases, EH&S is able to process safety impact glasses with prescriptions built into the lenses for those where over-glasses safety eyewear is not the best option.
 

The Prescription Safety Eyewear Program provides prescription glasses rated for safety when suitable over-glasses safety eyewear is not available.

UCR EH&S partners with Bolle Vision and provides safety eyewear with the following ratings:

  • ANSI Z87+
  • D3 (against liquid droplets)
  • D4 (against large dust particles)
  • D5 (against fine dust particles)
  • Anti-Fog Coating
  • Anti-Scratch Coating

Bolle Vision uses a software that works with your phone, tablet, or laptop integrated camera to:

  • Measure your pupillary distance
  • Measure your segmented height
  • Provide a virtual frame try-on (14 different frame options, side-shields included)

What You Will Need:

  • Prescription from optometrist
  • Bolle Voucher (obtained from EH&S)
  • Phone, tablet, or laptop with integrated camera
  • Good wifi signal

What You Will Receive:

  • Prescriptions safety eyewear
  • Personalized hard case
  • Cleaning wipes*
  • Cleaning spray*
  • 60-day exchange window with Bolle

*soap and water can be used in lieu of cleaning wipes and cleaning spray (DO NOT use alcohol, ammonia, or other corrosive agents as they will erode the anti-fog coating).

If you require prescription safety eyewear, please follow the procedures outlined below. If you have questions, please contact EH&S at ehslaboratory@ucr.edu

  1. Schedule an eye exam with an optometrist to obtain a prescription.
  2. Obtain the Chart of Accounts (COA) number from your supervisor that will be used to finance the prescription safety eyewear.
  3. Submit a request to EH&S using this online form: Prescription Safety Eyewear Request Form
  4. Wait to be contacted by EH&S when your Bolle Voucher is ready for pick-up.
  5. Collect your Bolle Voucher from EH&S and follow the instructions provided to complete your order with the Bolle software.
  6. Notify EH&S once your order has been submitted.
  7. Wait to be contacted by EH&S when your prescription safety eyewear is ready to be picked up (approximately 15 business days from submission of order).
