June is Safety Month at UCR 

 

June is Safety Month at UCR! Join us all month for a variety of safety trainings, webinars and events! Our goal is to empower and educate the campus community with valuable knowledge and skills. 

 

Throughout June, a range of engaging training topics will be covered. These topics include: 

 

CPR/First Aid & AED: The Adult First Aid/CPR/AED course incorporates the latest science and teaches students to recognize and care for a variety of first aid emergencies such as burns cuts scrapes sudden illnesses head neck back injuries heat and cold emergencies and how to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies for victims about 12 years and older. Successful students will receive a certificate for Adult First Aid/CPR/AED valid for two years. 

6/10-14/24 (Times vary) | Hybrid Training 

 

Asbestos Class 4 Training: This 2-hour on-site course meets OSHA compliance training under OSHA Construction Industry Standard 29 CFR 1926.1101 for workers performing asbestos Class IV operations (maintenance and custodial) that may involve contact with asbestos-containing materials (ACM) or potentially asbestos-containing materials (PACM). It is also for persons who clean up ACM- or PACM-containing waste and debris resulting from Class I, II, and III work activities.

Employee Injuries: How to Prevent Them & What to Do if They Occur: Supervisors and Managers, join us for a session on injury prevention, injury reporting fundamentals and the workers compensation process.  

6/14/23 at 10:00am – 11:00am | Webinar 

 

Boot Scoot: Work Boot Try on Event: Swing on my EH&S to meet four vendors who will have work boots available to try on, check out and order on site! If you have a uniform allowance, this is a great opportunity to use it.  

6/18/24 at 8:00am – 1:00pm | In Person at EH&S 

 

Summer Research Safety Orientation: Research personnel performing work over the summer at UCR will participate in a session that will teach them how to recognize hazards, assess the risks of hazards, minimize the risk of hazards, and prepare for emergencies. They will also engage in hands-on activities to prepare for working in a lab.

Outdoor Hazards: Preventing Heat Illness: Join us to discuss the hazards of working outdoors, how to prevent heat illness, and learn what to do if you or a coworker experiences heat stress.
