  • Asbestos, Lead, Mold & Silica Hazards

  • Biosafety

    This course follows NIH Guidelines for Research Involving Recombinant or Synthetic Nucleic Acid Molecules that requires institutions receiving NIH funding to ensure that all Principal Investigators (PIs), laboratory staff, and Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) members receive appropriate biosafety training regarding laboratory safety and implementation of the NIH Guidelines.

  • Electrical Safety

    Machinery, Tools, Hot Work, and Lockout/Tagout

  • Computer Ergonomics Self-Assessment

    Computer Ergonomics Self-Assessment is an online self-assessment and Training program targeted at office workers. This online program, hosted by Risk & Safety Solutions, helps you identify your risks, automate injury-prevention activities, and analyze results.

    • Mandatory for certain office-worker job categories.
    • Recommended for all faculty and staff who work more than 2 hours per day at a computer.
    • Start your Computer Ergonomics Self-Assessment in the Risk & Safety Solutions Portal.
  • Fall Prevention

    *This is an awareness level course and does not authorize the learner to use equipment. To inquire about authorized user training, please email ehstraining@ucr.edu.

    Fall Protection Authorized User (4-hour)

    The target audience for this course is employees who will be responsible for implementing the organization’s Fall Protection Program, including selecting equipment and systems; rigging fall protection equipment; supervising workers who need to use the equipment; and monitoring the inspection and maintenance of the equipment.

  • Hearing Conservation

    Overview of Hearing Conservation for employees who are exposed to noise at or above an 8-hour time-weighted average of 85 dBA (decibels in A-weighting scale). Topics include: the effects of noise on hearing; the purpose of hearing protectors, the advantages, disadvantages, and attenuation of various types, and instructions on selection, fitting, use, and care; and the purpose of audiometric testing, and an explanation of the test procedures. This 30-minute course provides an overview of an OSHA-compliant hot work permit program, including the permit process, roles and responsibilities, and controls used to minimize the risk of fire. The content in this course is designed to comply with the intent of the applicable regulatory requirements. Learner objectives for this course are to identify key elements of a hot work permit program, describe the primary roles and responsibilities of key personnel involved in a compliant hot work permit program, and recall controls used to minimize the risk of fire and injury during hot work operations.

  • Laboratory Safety Fundamentals

    Introduction to the fundamentals of laboratory safety, chemical safety, and general safety. This course covers relevant campus Laboratory Safety Manual(s) and rights/responsibilities according to applicable regulations (Reference: 8 CCR 3320, 3221, 3380, 5110, 6151, 5154, 5164, 5191, 5194, 3203, 3380-3387), meets the requirements of the UC Regents Agreement (if completed after 09/24/12), and covers UC Policies (Laboratory Safety and Management HSE).

    Laboratory Safety Awareness for Support Personnel

    Child abuse and neglect are a serious concern and the University must provide an environment that is safe and protects children on University premises or activities in programs conducted by the University.

  • Safety Orientation/Injury & Illness Prevention Program *Required Training

    Slips, trips, and falls constitute the majority of general industry accidents. They cause 15% of all accidental deaths and are second only to motor vehicles as a cause of fatalities from accidents. This course is intended to provide employees with the ability to recognize and prevent slip, trip, and fall hazards, and to address the key components of ladder safety. The content in this course is designed to comply with the intent of the applicable regulatory requirements. The learning objectives of the course are to list injuries that can result from slips, trips, and falls; identify fall hazards in the work area; describe the proper use of a ladder; specify how to set up a ladder; list tips to prevent injuries on stairs; describe how to minimize walkway hazards; and list contributing factors to slips, trips, and falls.
