STRIDE | RAMP | MacRUE | RISE
Topics include:
- Introduction to the RAMP Method in Research
- Hazardous Materials and Waste
- Chemical Safety & Hazard Communication
- Laboratory Equipment
- PPE Fitting
Summer 2026 Training Dates:
Session 1:
Date: Wednesday, 6/24/2026
Time: Arrive by 8:30am, Sessions from 9:00am - 11:00am & PPE fitting extend after the event
PPE Fitting time: 1/2 hour before or after the session.
Session 2:
Date: Thursday, 6/25/2026
Time: Arrive by 8:30am, Sessions from 9:00am - 11:00am & PPE fitting extend after the event
PPE Fitting time: 1/2 hour before or after the session.
Session 3:
Date: Thursday, 6/25/2025
Time: Arrive by 12:30pm, Sessions from 1:00pm - 3:00pm & PPE fitting extend after the event.
PPE Fitting time: 1/2 hour before or after the session.
Attire:
Students should wear long pants (no shorts) and closed toed/heel shoes (no crocs) for entering a lab.

Before this event be sure to:
Obtain your UCR NetID and Password
This is issued from your department in the onboarding process and connects you to all the systems at UCR you will need access to.
Take minimum required training
Log into the UCR Learning Center with your NetID and password to access online training modules. At a minimum you should complete:

Complete the Laboratory Hazard Assessment Tool (LHAT) if you are in a Research Laboratory Program.
If you are in a Research program, you should be added to your Lab LHAT. You will receive an email with the subject line “Lab Hazard Assessment Ready to be Acknowledged” outlining the steps you need to take prior to the training:
Review the information about hazards present in the laboratory
Review the identified Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required for this laboratory
Acknowledge that you have read the laboratory hazard assessment by clicking “continue” to review each section
If PPE is required, complete the short “PPE Safety Training” in the Next Steps page. This will ensure you can get your PPE
These steps are required to complete in order to receive your PPE.
At the End of Summer Program:
Return your UCR issued PPE in at the program end at one the two dates. More information will be available closer to the date.
- August 14, 2026 for 8 Week students (Community College Students and outside UCR students)
- August 28, 2026 for 10 week students (UCR students)
